My story began when I was seven and I found an interest in the piano; I began playing and discovered I had a natural talent. So for me, motivation was never an issue. I have had a love for music and playing from an early age and this has pushed me to achieve much of what I have today. Speaking to other musicians however, I understand that many went through a phase where they either gave up learning or came close. A lack of motivation, combined with repetitive uninteresting lessons, means that many a potential musical performer have been lost.

As I have grown my musical career I have developed a strong passion for music education. Some of you may already know I began the UK’s premier music tuition company, the Arts Academy. I wanted to provide the best one-to-one music education that was available in our clients homes. I also needed to make learning FUN and put more enjoyment back into playing an instrument.  What drives my team the most is finding new ways to motivate children to keep learning. We all know children can lose interest, and it’s our responsibility to remind them why music can be one of the most powerful things in the world.

We recently saw an opportunity within our own learning environment.  Once the professor has left the home of the pupil and the session has ended, their learning is in their own hands. We have decided to create a new learning platform to fill in the gaps between sessions. Our clients can have monthly musical goodie-bags, books and even games, but what we are most excited about is our new Arts Academy Videorial Series.

We have launched a fantastic new campaign to create video tutorials; these will be created by our very own professors. Fun and interactive, they cover every conceivable musical topic from basics like how to tune instruments, right through to advanced issues such as the interpretation of late Beethoven. And they have a personal touch – if a pupil has a specific question, the Arts Academy team of highly trained specialist professors will prepare a video demonstration tailored to their needs.

It’s a large, expensive project., but hopefully we can further my dream of pushing music education to its best and securing the next generation of talented musicians.
